Acts 8:14-17 (AMP)
When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that [the people of] Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them. 15 They came down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit; 16 for He had not yet fallen on any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus [as His possession]. 17 Then Peter and John laid their hands on them [one by one], and they received the Holy Spirit.
Today I was talking to a sister believer in Christ and during the latter part of our conversation (our time of praise and thanksgiving) it occurred to me that what we desire most or what we are most passionate about will take effort (work). Some kind of effort to have it and maintain it whether that is a relationship, work project, ministry, etc. Not just our individual effort but more so it is coming into the understanding and receiving that the Lord has already done the work necessary for us to overcome and achieve what and where God has positioned us to be.
Through JESUS we can overcome whatever has set us back in the past.
Our past does not define us but JESUS does.
Praise the Lord and Amen,
Barbara J Couch, MDiv.
For the love of Christ controls and compels us, because we have concluded this, that One died for all, therefore all died; and He died for all, so that all those who live would no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and was raised for their sake.
2 CORINTHIANS 5:14-15 (AMP)
Give, and [gifts] will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will they pour into [the pouch formed by] the bosom [of your robe and used as a bag]. For with the measure you deal out [with the measure you use when you confer benefits on others], it will be measured back to you.
